Supervised by Pamodzi Consulting Limited, the Lilongwe Water and Sanitation Project (LWSP) in a collaborative effort between the Government of Malawi and the World Bank/IDA is a project dedicated to improving the lives of Lilongwe City residents. This collaborative initiative focuses on vulnerable households in informal settlements, enhancing access to clean water and safe sanitation. Key components include water network rehabilitation, sanitation improvements, technical support and capacity building. The LWSP also provides partial subsidies for on-site sanitation facilities, benefiting underserved communities. Phase one, initiated in November 2021, targets the construction of 1,000 sanitation facilities, marking progress toward a healthier and more sustainable Lilongwe.
